A single CFL bulb has a limit to the amount of light it can produce, but if you use something like this 4 socket softbox, you get up to 1200 watts of equivalent light out of something like this. (4 x 300 watt equiv cfl)

The build quality of this softbox is better then some, but not amazing. If you plan to travel with this lighting kit, you might want to look elsewhere, but if you need lighting for a studio this could be an affordable option.

For video this kit works very well, just remember that if you're using this for photography you need to keep your shutter speeds a little lower or you'll end up with banding.

In case you're wondering about the Light quality, this entire video was shot using two of these heads one on either side. The head does not include bulbs so the quality of light really depends on the type of CFL you choose. The heads are sold individually for around $35 a peace, or you can buy them as a complete 3 peace kit with CFL's and stands for $118.
