Shop and garage lighting is important and also normally bid and installed based on electrical code when homes and garages are built. If you are asking a builder for an estimate, make sure to have them specify the number of fixtures and the lights they plan on using. In some cases, like ours, we are going to supply our own lighting.
Our build will be used for storage and maintenance of vehicles. While detailing them, we want a good amount of light that is very white. We have 12 fixtures that need to cover 1,000 sq feet of space. The light we choose will be 5000K so it is rather white compared to a 3,000K bulb that would be used in homes and is more yellow. We are struggling between using socket splitters and inexpensive LED bulbs or a more expensive, but very bright LED bulb.
While searching Amazon for brighter LED bulbs, we ran across multiple different options of nice looking light bulb styled LED from Sansi. We also found that a local dealer handled them and had some in stock that we could try. We brought home the 27 watt, 250 watt equivalent, 3,500 Lumen lights and they performed very well.
As with most LED bulbs, installing these took seconds and no tools other than a ladder. The test in the garage showed them to perform better than the LED socket splitter.
